The question about him is the distance and whether he can stay but the Darley team seem to think so and for many that’s good enough. From gate three he’ll get a run and he’ll show a sight at the top of the turn.

Rekindled Alliance

Won on debut at Canterbury and last start just The Tonic only got him by a neck. All indicators are that he’ll handle the 1600m and if he does that he could well be the winner. If Just The Tonic is the favourite he certainly shouldn’t be too far away in betting himself, and at the end of the Spring Stakes he may have turned the tables altogether.

The six-year-old gelding won the $115,000 Spring Stakes by two lengths ahead of Periduki, who finished in second, and Valentine Miss, who finished in third.

The Reset entire has been out of work for almost a year after fracturing a bone in his leg last year.

“He fractured a sesamoid in the Makybe Diva (Stakes) at Flemington last year and the vets advised us that was it for him because it was such a bad injury,” Co-trainer Andrew Gluyas said.

“The horse was on the breeding merry-go-round there for a while before the owners decided to put him back into work.

“They wanted to see if he could sustain being kept in training and he’s done that now up to this point.

“He’s done enough concussion-type work to say that the injury isn’t going to worry him again.”

Gluyas is confident that Rebel Raider is mentally prepared for the 2011 Spring Stakes, it is just his horse racing form that is in question.

“Mentally, all the indications are that he is ready to go but ultimately racing’s always going to be the judge of that.
