Neither Sooboog nor Beirut are yet to herald much interest in 2016 Spring Stakes betting markets, but the pair remain tied on the top line at generous $4.80 quotes with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Sooboog has posted a number of impressive results since making his competitive debut in late 2014; claiming two wins and a further four minors through fourteen career starts.

Debuting for Darren Weir second in the Group 2 Euclase Stakes (1200m) on May 7th, the Snitzel entire failed to figure when tenth in the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) but responded with a credible performance for fifth in the Ladbrokes Cash In Handicap (1300m) on June 4th.

Having placed fourth in the Listed AR Creswick Series Final (1200m) on July 9th, Sooboog could very well receive the run of the race from barrier 4 and should relish more than a month between runs.

Beirut is the formed runner of the 2016 Spring Stakes field and should also receive a dream run in transit from barrier 5 on Saturday.

Claiming seven race wins and a further eight minors through her twenty-nine career starts, the Lonhro mare has undoubtedly found career-best form since transferring to the care of Henry Dwyer prior to her current preparation.

Returning to winning form in the Le Pine Funerals BM70 (1200m) on May 11th, Beirut has since posted classy wins in each of the Night Racing Finale BM70 (1200m), The Cove Hotel BM70 (1200m) and the Mypunter.com Handicap (1200m) leading into the Spring Stakes.

The six-year-old undoubtedly faces her biggest test to date in what will be her black type debut but she is in the right form to win, particularly with only 56.5kgs in tow.

Daytona Grey has received steady support in 2016 Spring Stakes betting markets and occupies the second line of betting at a $5.50 quote.

A black type winner this time having taken out the Listed Manihi Classic (1100m) in April, Daytona Grey carries typically smart form into the Spring Stakes but will have to overcome 58.5kgs if he is to cap his preparation in the best way possible.
