Proisir Wins 2012 Spring Stakes – Race Results

September 19th, 2012

Proisir has won the Group 3 Spring Stakes at Newcastle Racecourse today September 19, 2012.

The Choisir colt has won three of his three race starts and has earned more than $170,000 in prize money.

Proisir won the 2012 Spring Stakes by an incredible six lengths ahead of Trophies, who finished second, and Proverb, who ran home for third.

The three-year-old is now headed for a run in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes, as well as a possible start in the $1 million Caulfield Guineas.

Jockey Nash Rawiller was aboard the colt for today’s 2012 Spring Stakes win and was full of praise.

“He really took the next step today with flying colours,” Rawiller said.

“He’s a really constant horse.

“He made his own luck. We travelled comfortably there in front.

“What was impressive was his last furlong.

“He’s really going places too that’s the main thing.”

Trainer Gai Waterhouse was over the moon with Proisir’s performance in the 2012 Spring Stakes and was confident of his chances in the upcoming spring features.

“Well he could win the Spring Champion,” Waterhouse said.

“He goes to the Spring Champion and then we’ll take him down to Melbourne.

“He won like the short priced stayer that he was.”
