The final field and barrier draw has been announced for the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1600m), which is set to take place at Newcastle Racecourse this Wednesday September 19.
Just eight horses have accepted to run in the race, including the undefeated Proisir.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained colt scored a comfortable two and a quarter length victory in the TVN Jockeys Trust handicap at Rosehill on September 1 after winning on debut at Hawkesbury a month earlier.
The Choisir colt will use the Spring Stakes as a stepping stone to the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) in October.
Darley duo Limes and Proverb are also in the final field for the 2012 Spring Stakes.
Limes ran third behind Pierro and All Too Hard in the Group 1 Sires Produce (1400m) earlier in the year but hasn’t replicated that form as a three-year-old, finishing a disappointing eighth in the listed Ming Dynasty (1400m).
Proverb resumed with a strong second in the Ming Dynasty and will be ridden in the Spring Stakes by leading jockey Kerrin McEvoy.
Rounding out the final field are Mount Nebo, Trophies, Sumarand, Shawano and Newcastle Miss.
